As you can tell, I don't come onto dA very much either so I apologize on my end as well.
I'm doing pretty well but it has been a rough couple of months in the fuzzies department. Ended up having to help my youngest ferret named Houdini cross over to the Rainbow Bridge in June - he was fine one minute and then the horrible discovery of cancer sapped all his energy the next - which was very hard but ended up doing something in his memory that helped ease the pain (will get to that in a minute). My other original two boys have both been diagnosed with cancer as well so it's a day to day process. One (Archimedes) is doing very well and the other (Artemis) has limited time left so I'm doing everything possible to help keep him happy and comfortable as possible, which he is. We were concerned that Archimedes would slip into a deep depression once Artemis passes on since he and Artemis are so close, so my father and I ended up adopting 3 ferrets from the Albuquerque Animal Welfare. The plan was only to get one but all three came into together, were bounced from home to home, so I knew how important it was for them to remain together since they are a bonded trio. They are 3 years old and such a delight. Their names are Blanco who is a male, and the girls, Trixie and Sylvia. All five have adjusted very well together and are very happy.
When Houdini passed away, I wanted to do something in his honor so I ended up on the internet in search of a rescue to make a donation and ended up finding probably one of the best ferret rescues I have ever seen called 'Ferret Dreams' located in Denver. It is a no kill shelter and in fact, have a medical fund set up to treat all the ferrets that come into the shelter that have medical issues. The two owners named Matthew and Lee are such wonderful and caring people who are so dedicated to ferrets. They also have this Dream Angel program set up where you can sponsor one of their permanent residents who is too ill to be adopted out. I'm currently sponsoring three little angels there.
Here is more info on the rescue since I know you love fuzzies as much as I do! They have such wonderful stories on their website about their adoptions and permanent residents:
